2022-23 Ski Club
Enrollment
Ski Club is open to skiers in all grades. Before being admitted to the club, students and parents must submit the following:
o Ski Club Permission Form
o Activity Consent and Medical Information Form (attached)
o $35 Ski Club fee (checks payable to The Watershed School)
If a student is in kindergarten or first grade, a parent/guardian/designated adult must be present at all practices and ski with their child.
Practices
Practices will be held on Mondays from 4:15 – 5:15 pm at Birch Hill. We will meet in the stadium near the flagpole. Students should arrive ready to ski (hydrated, dressed, skis waxed, etc.) by 4:15 pm. Busing will not be provided this year. Students must check out with a coach before leaving practice.
Races
All ski races are held on weekends and are voluntary, but a lot of fun! Ski Club members are strongly encouraged to participate in the Town Race Series and other races such as the Turkey Day Relay. More information about races, including registration forms, will be sent home as soon as they are made available from the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks.
• Saturday, November 19: Town Race #1
• Friday, November 25: Turkey Day Relay
• Saturday, December 3: Town Race #2
• Saturday, January 21: Town Race #3
• Saturday, January 28: Town Race #4
Schedule
Ski Club will begin on Monday, November 28 and will run through Monday, March 6.
There will be no ski club: • January 16 (MLK holiday) • February 20 (After-school parent-teacher conferences) • When the temperature (w/windchill) is - 5O F or colder at Birch Hill *The decision to hold or cancel ski club will be made at 1:00pm and will be based on the temperature and wind conditions (- 5oF w/windchill or colder) at the Birch Hill. |
Other Requirements

Skiers in the most advanced group should have both classic and skate skis. Coaches will tell students in advance what type of skis to bring to practice.

Parents need to promptly pick up skiers at 5:15. Failure to pick up skiers on time may result in removal from Ski Club.

Students or their parents must check out with a coach before leaving practices.

Athletes must be dressed warm and fully equipped with ski equipment. We do not have enough staff and volunteers to supervise students who are not prepared to ski with their groups.

Athletes must be respectful of other participants, parent volunteers, and coaches. Athletes who cannot behave appropriately will be removed from Ski Club.
